We are looking for a Multi-Skilled Engineer with experience in the FMCG industry to join a leading specialist prepared fruit supplier. The role involves fault finding and repairing a range of electrical and food manufacturing equipment, as well as carrying out routine scheduled maintenance and providing training and guidance to Machine Operators. The ideal candidate will have electrical engineering qualifications, good problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in cold storage conditions.
Requirements:
- Experience as Engineer in Manufacturing or Food Production is highly desirable
- Engineer NVQ L3 and above
- Electrical Engineering qualification(s)
- Mechanical Engineering qualification(s)
- Good 50/50 Mechanical and Electrical bias both in experience and qualifications
- Good level of PLC and inverter fault diagnostic skills
- Good problem-solving skills with the ability to get to the root cause
Job Objectives and Responsibilities:
Working as part of a team, the Multi skilled Engineers are responsible for fault finding and repair a range of electrical and food manufacturing equipment including building, fabrication, maintenance and fitting of new parts.
- Carrying out routine scheduled fabrication and maintenance work.
- Diagnosing breakdown problems.
- Training and guidance of Machine Operators including equipment care.
- Repairing of equipment including fabrication repairs in the factory
- Fitting new parts.
- Responding immediately to equipment breakdowns.
- Undertaking scheduled maintenance and PPM.
- Support the Site Services Manager for equipment, maintenance resources and correcting existing discrepancies.
- Examine or carry out tasks on broken parts and identify defective parts or give recommendations on repair requirements.
- Application of lubricants or other materials to machines or their parts as well as other equipment.
- Put machine parts together correctly after accomplishing maintenance and repair work
- Respond in a timely manner to all maintenance requests and concerns raised by other department and team members according to the company process.
- Report all potential accidents and machine make sure that any accidents are recorded in the appropriate place and in line with company procedures.
- Supporting the Hygiene team on the dismantling and replacing of machine parts or equipment during the cleaning window.
- Conduct pre–production machinery and equipment start – ups.
- The role involves manual handling and the ability to withstand working in cold storage conditions on a daily basis
- The role requires an alert disposition, working in the vicinity of forklift and moving machinery
The role offers a salary of £47,000 (days) - £52,000 (nights) per annum, as well as benefits such as wage stream, overtime, free on-site parking with electric charge points, staff events, a staff restaurant serving heavily subsidised food, fruit pots on Wednesdays, and a supportive team. The working days and hours are 4 on 4 off rotating, with all days from 06:00 to 18:00.
