BMU/Cradle Engineer
Location: Mobile role with office based in Rochester, Kent
Salary: Up to £42,000

About the Role: We’re seeking an experienced Engineer-level Cradle/BMU Engineer to carry out the inspection, servicing, and fault diagnosis of Building Maintenance Units (BMUs), cradles, monorails, and associated access systems. This role requires a technical mindset, strong attention to safety, and an ability to work independently or lead small teams on site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine inspections, servicing, and testing of BMUs, cradle systems and fall protection equipment.
- Identify and resolve faults, carry out mechanical/electrical repairs
- Complete condition reports and compliance paperwork to relevant standards (e.g., LOLER, PUWER)
- Liaise with clients and support less experienced engineers as required
- Ensure compliance with site-specific RAMS and company H&S protocols
Essential Skills:
- Experience working on BMUs, cradles, or façade access equipment
- Strong mechanical or electromechanical background
- Full UK manual driving licence
- SSSTS (or equivalent) for site supervision
Desirable:
- Knowledge of LOLER, BS 6037, and PUWER compliance
- Experience in carrying out LG3 works.
- PASMA/IPAF certification
- Electrical fault-finding or panel experience
- Familiarity with Simpro or digital job systems
